Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the consultation fee?
There is a $40.00 consultation & fitting fee for all wedding & formal gowns. One of our expert seamstresses will go over in detail what needs to be done to have your dress fitting perfectly for your big day. You will be provided with an exact quote at this time prior to completing any work. If you do choose to have your gown altered with us, the $40.00 consultation & fitting fee will be credited toward your total alteration cost.
  • How much do alterations cost?
Wedding gown alterations vary a great deal depending on the extent of the work that needs to be done and the gown itself, i.e., fabric/material, number of layers, beading, etc. You can expect a range from $300-$1000. Once we see you and put together a plan for your gown at your first fitting, we will provide you with an exact quote before we begin working on your gown.
  • Do you alter other formal gowns such as bridesmaid dresses, mother of the bride/groom and grad gowns?
Absolutely! We typically require 2 fittings for these dresses (depending on the gown there could be more) and about 6-8 weeks notice.
  • What should I bring to my first fitting?
We kindly ask that you bring your shoes and any undergarments that you plan on wearing to all your fittings. *Feel free to bring a friend or member of your family
  • When should I book my first fitting?
We recommend booking your first fitting about 3 months before your event. Of course, if needed, we can usually accommodate a quicker turnaround time! Just give us a call.
  • How many fittings should I expect?
There are typically 2 fittings but can be more depending on the alterations needed. Your second fitting is our first chance to see your altered gown on you! If any minor tweaks are needed, this is when we will book a final fitting.
  • Do you offer steaming or pressing before the event?
Yes! With our speciality equipment, we are able to give your gown a professional press (all layers) that a typical retail steamer just cant. We suggest bringing it the week before the wedding
  • What is the difference between cleaning versus cleaning and preservation?
Cleaning is recommended for brides who are planning to wear their gown again or those not planning to keep it. These gowns are carefully cleaned and pressed and returned in a clear poly bag. For those brides wanting to keep their gown we recommend cleaning and preservation. Once your gown is cleaned, we carefully package and preserve your clean gown in a museum-quality box made of acid-free materials. This process protects your gown from the acid and light that cause gowns to yellow over time and comes with a 100% international guarantee.
  • Do I need an appointment?
Walk-ins are always welcome! The consultation takes about 15 minutes, where we will go over your gown and determine the appropriate cleaning process for your gown with careful consideration to any delicate trim, beading, and appliques. We will provide you with a quote at this time.
  • How much is cleaning and how much is the preservation?
Professional Cleaning starts at $240 and our museum quality preservation service is an additional $130-$220, depending on the size of the chest required. The price will depend on many factors such as: fabric, beading, layers, soiling, etc. We will give you an exact quote for your review & approval before any process is started.
  • How long does cleaning take?
We like to have 1-2 weeks to process your gown to ensure we can pay careful attention to any stubborn staining/soiling. Before we box and preserve your gown you have the chance to inspect it and make sure you are 100% happy with the cleaning.
